Gibran Khan, Corporate Engagement Officer
Team member: 2018-2020
Gibran Khan joined the SRC team in the fall of 2018 as a volunteer to explore new avenues of research with a particular interest in survey design and analysis. His research interests included power imbalances within Canada as well as various local injustices. During his time at the SRC, he held the role of the Corporate Engagement Officer. Gibran the SRC in 2020 upon graduating with a major in Criminology and Justice. Currently, he is pursuing a career within the police force.
Zarah Javaid, Research Assistant
Team member: 2018-2020
Zarah Javaid joined the SRC team in the spring of 2018 as a volunteer to gain new skills in research and create connections among the community of Durham Region. Zarah joined the SRC to develop her professional skills and potentially a career working in the realm of community development. Her interests included examining the relationship between poverty and homelessness. During her time at the SRC, she held the role of a Research Assistant. Zarah left the SRC in 2020 upon graduating with a major in Criminology and Justice and a minor in Communication and Digital Media Studies.
Domenic Johnson-Mele, Research Assistant
Team member: 2017-2020
Domenic Johnson-Mele joined the SRC team in 2017 when he was interested in the opportunity to learn about how statistics are read and how proper research methods are carried out on a professional level and how these methods can help various types of communities. His interests included the creation of laws and policies, with a goal to earn a law degree. During his time at the SRC, he held the role of a Research Assistant. Domenic left the SRC in 2020 upon graduating with a major in Criminology and Justice and a minor in Political Science.
